Eddie Von Walt and the Infinite Bulb is a virtual reality roguelike for Meta Quest, in development here at UluP Studio. No controllers: you play with your hands only.
The story
1984. Eddie Von Walt is Italian by blood, a barman by birth and an electrician at heart. In the back room of his bar, Volt & Vodka, he has spent years chasing a single idea: light without wires.
He did it. The Infinite Bulb never goes out and needs no socket and no cable. Then two men started asking questions: Nicolas Turbine, who wants to own the grid, and Ben Rod, who sells lightning to anyone who pays. Both want the bulb, and both know where the bar is.
Every night their customers come first. Eddie has a counter, a few bottles, a beer tap and a bulb in his pocket. And he's afraid of the dark.
How it plays
- Hands only — the game uses Meta Quest hand tracking: grab a bottle, pour a beer, point and recall
- Defend the counter — electric customers walk in from the street and lean over your bar: hit them with whatever is within reach before their patience runs out
- Glass, foam and sparks — bottles and glasses shatter, beer sprays, and every hit sends current through the cube
- Built for sitting down — a horseshoe counter, everything within arm's reach and adjustable height. Throwing is optional and can be switched on from the menu
- Every night is a run — the structure of a roguelike, with the story moving on between nights
The customers
The enemies are neon cubes, each with its own character: one slow and swaying, one slim and very fast that dashes in time with the snare, and one huge and armored where the first beer only breaks its plates.
Where we are
It's a game in development: today it's a playable prototype on Meta Quest, and I'm building it night after night. There's no release date or price yet, and as soon as there are, you'll find them here and on the game's page.
